On April 2, 2026, San Juan County staff joined the representatives from local organizations and business at the Climate Convergence, hosted by the Madrona Institute. The intention for this gathering was to build greater collaboration around climate resilience efforts throughout the islands.

Event organizers worked with our Climate and Sustainability program to ensure that the day's programming supported the development of the Climate Action Plan that is currently underway. Program coordinator Angela Broderick gave a presentation to the group, and attendees were invited to provide critical feedback to help further refine priorities.

A focal point of the Convergence was building on partnerships and cross-collaboration. Sector-based breakout groups and time for connection and discussion capitalized on the benefit of coming together in person and having face-to-face conversations.

You can read more about the Climate Convergence here. In addition, the Madrona Institute has created an event resources page, which will include a report about this inaugural event. We are grateful to have partnered on this event, and appreciate continuing efforts to convene and collaborate!
